The Who – Won’t Get Fooled Again

Published on July 17, 2019

A 1971 classic that is considered a political anthem. This song withstands the sand of time in relevance.

Pete Townshend wrote this song about a revolution in 3 stages. The first part of the song was about the revolutionary rising. The middle part was the overthrow. And at the end, the new regime seems to be a mirror of the old regime in an endless cycle. Genius.

Out of all the songs, this was one of Roger Daltrey’s least favorite. He told Rolling Stones magazine in an interview; “That’s the only song I’m bloody bored s–tless with.” He must feel differently now since this was the song he sung on Jimmy Fallon’s show.
